Facebook removes Jamia shooter’s account

Facebook on Thursday removed the gruesome video of the Jamia Nagar shooting in which the accused can be seen live-streaming the firing incident. The account of the alleged shooter has also been removed. The social media giant has issued a statement regarding the same.

“There is no place on Facebook for those who commit this kind of violence. We have removed the gunman’s Facebook account and are removing any content that praises, supports or represents the gunman or the shooting as soon as we identify it,” a Facebook company spokesperson said.

Facebook has a global policy of removing any content praising, supporting or representing the shootings and the shooter as soon as it is brought to the notice.

A student was injured after an unidentified person opened fire at protesters, who were agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), near the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi.

The accused has been detained by the police.

Home Minister Amit Shah has said he had asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to take stringent action over the firing in Jamia Nagar.
