Pawan Kumar, one of the convicts in the 2012 brutal Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, has moved the Supreme Court on Saturday claiming that he was a minor at the time of the incident. He also sought the intervention of the apex court in setting aside the death execution warrant issued by a Delhi Court on Friday.
A Delhi Court had issued a fresh death warrant to execute the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case on Friday. They had set the date of execution for February 1st and the execution to be carried out by 6 AM.

Pawan Kumar had earlier lodged a petition in the lower court who had rejected his petition.
He then appealed to the Delhi High Court which had in the month of December, rejected his claims and called it a delaying tactic.
The convicts have exhausted all available legal remedies and will now face the gallows.
Nirbhaya was brutally gang-raped and tortured on December 16th, 2012, which later led to her death at a Singapore hospital. All of the six accused were arrested and charged with sexual assault and murder. One of the accused was a minor who was tried in a juvenile justice court, while another accused committed suicide in Tihar jail.
