ITBP DG SS Deswal, who was given additional charge of CRPF, passed on the baton to Maheshwari. He was appointed as the DG of CRPF on Monday.

A 1984 batch IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, he has been appointed to the post up to February 28, 2021. The post of DG CRPF was lying vacant after R R Bhatnagar retired on December 31.
