Fact Check: Banks to seek religious details for KYC? Finance Ministry denies the ‘baseless rumours’

Rubbishing the claim, Rajeev Kumar, Secretary, Department of Financial Services in the Finance Ministry asked people to not fall for such rumours.

There is no requirement for #Indian citizens to declare their religion for opening/ existing #Bank account or for #KYC. Do not fall for baseless rumours about any such move by Banks, he tweeted.
