Google accused of technical surveillance by some employees

Date:

Some Google employees have accused the tech giant of surveillance at work place. According to them, this is being done via a browser extension in the Calendar app.

According to MIT Technology Review report, this browser extension would automatically report employees who create a calendar event with more than 100 participants or more than 10 rooms.

This comes at a time when there have been a series of walk outs over allegations of sexual harassment at workplace to the company’s participation in the controversial JEDI project of Pentagon.

This is being seen as an attempt by Google to prevent its workers from organizing themselves into Unions and other collectives.

Last month its contractors in Pittsburgh voted to unionize.

The right to form associations is a Fundamental human right in many parts of the world and this is move is being seen as an infringement of that right.
