Chinese President Xi to use this special car during his India visit

Date:

Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India starting Friday, four cars have been brought to Chennai by an Air China cargo flight.

The president’s entourage will arrive at 1.30 pm on Friday. An hour later, Xi’s aircraft will touch down. To ensure security, President Xi generally uses the Chinese-made ‘Hongqi’ limousine. ‘Hongqi’ translates to ‘red flag’ and is perhaps symbolic of China’s communist ideology.

The car, the most expensive in China, can zip from zero to hundred kilometres in a little over 8 seconds. It is 18-feet long, 6.5 feet wide, five-feet tall and weighs a whopping 3152kgs.

President Xi is likely to use his official car to ITC Grand Chola where he is expected to stay.

President Xi Jinping will be heading to Chennai for the second informal summit on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi will hold an informal summit at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, about 55 km south of Chennai on October 11-12.
