No, Police is not beating up this man over new traffic rule; here’s the truth

Date:

A video is doing rounds on social media in which cops can be seen beating a few men. It is being claimed that police have started terrorising public as soon as the new traffic rule came into effect.

“ट्रैफिक नियम बदलते ही पुलिस का आतंक शुरू अवैध वसूली का विरोध करने पर प्रारंभ हुई निरीह जनता की पिटाई इस वीडियो को अधिक से अधिक शेयर करें जिससे दोषी पुलिसकर्मियों को दंड मिल सके ” the caption read.

Fact check

When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, we found the claim to be fake.

In the video, we noticed that the barricades had ‘Rajasthan’ written on it. Also, QTR Alwar was written on the back on one’s uniform.

When we took the screengrab of the video and ran it through Reverse Image Search along with some keywords, we found that it was NOT related to recent traffic rules amendments.

We found an article by Patrika dated August 27. As per the report, police lathi-charged on students demanding for recounting of voting in college elections in Alwar’s Rajshri college. Several other people were also beaten up by the police during the clash.

We also found a report by Aajtak dated August 29, 2019 o the same incident.

This proves that the video is not related to amendments to the Motor Vehicle Act which was implemented from September 1, 2019.

Hence the viral claim attached to the video is fake.
