This video of a crocodile is NOT from Bihar; here’s the fact check

Date:

A video of a crocodile in a water-logged residential area is doing the rounds on social media with the claim that the incident took place in Patna, Bihar.

The caption of the post read: “Crocodile In Patna during Heavy rain”

The above post has nearly 17,000 views.

We found similar posts on Twitter, one user claimed it to be of Digha, West Bengal.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above viral video, we found the claim attached to it to be FALSE.

On putting the keyframes of the video through a Google Reverse Image search and putting keywords such as ‘Crocodile,’ ‘Rains’, ‘Drain’, we came across a video posted by Times of India on August 4, 2019, which is shot from the same location but from a different angle.

The caption of the video read: “Due to waterlogging by the ongoing heavy rains, further incidents of crocodiles entering Vadodara’s housing complexes have been recorded. Following last week’s viral video of a crocodile attacking a dog inside Lalbaug’s Rajsthamb society, a team of rescuers captured another reptile at night from the entrance of a house.”

The above information proves that the video is an old video from Gujarat and NOT current floods in Bihar’s captal Patna.
