The man thrashed by women in the viral video is not Himachal BJP MLA, here’s the truth!

A video is doing the rounds on social media that claims BJP MLA from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh was beaten up by two women with shoes at a ceremony.

The caption with the video read: ”BJP vidhayak ka swagat juton se kiya gaya, Hamirpur main aur karo jumlebaji.

We searched for news using the keywords such as: ‘Himachal Pradesh Parivahan Union leader slapped’ and found that the incident was widely covered by vernacular media.

We then found media reports from June 2018. In an article published by Amar Ujala, the photo used matches a still from the viral video.

Amar Ujala identified the man as Shankar Singh Thakur, state president of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) union who was attacked by two female trainee conductors while attending a union meeting in Hamirpur on June 23, 2018.

Hence, the above information proves that claim attached to the viral video is False.
