Police didn’t thrash this man over vehicle checking; here’s the truth behind this video

A video is bring shared on social media where policemen can be seen beating and dragging a man. The claims are being made that the Gaur police in Basti district in Uttar Pradesh were manhandling a vehicle owner in the name of ‘traffic checking’.

” आज शनिवार को गौर थाना की पुलिस ने वाहन चेकिंग के नाम पर मचाई आतंक घसीट घसीट कर वाहन मालिक को मारा गया आज 14 तारीख यह है बस्ती जिले के गौर थाने की पुलिस पुलिस इन लोगों इन लोगों के खिलाफ तत्काल कार्यवाही होनी चाहिए, ” the caption read.

FACT CHECK 

When NewsMobile fact checked the video, we found that it is from 2017. 

We ran a searched using keywords ‘ गौर थाना की पुलिस मार’ and found the same video was uploaded by OnaNews 24X7 on there YouTube Channel on November 14, 2017. 

Moreover, replying to a Twitter user, Basti Police said that the video is from 2017 and also the policemen can be seen wearing winter uniform, and hence is not recent times.

This proves that the video in circulation is old and is not related to recent Motor Vehicles Act amendments and current traffic checkings.
