In a major jolt to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly polls, their Member of Parliament representing the constituency of Satara, Udyanraje Bhosale has quit the party and joined the BJP.
Bhosale who is also a descendant of the Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji, quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janta Party in the presence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in New Delhi on Friday.

He tendered his resignation as a Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla.
Praising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the MP said that it inspired him and he wanted to contribute to the development of the state and the nation keeping in mind the grand vision of the PM.
