New Delhi: Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh have been put under house arrest on Wednesday.
According to the news wire ANI, Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Nara Lokesh have been put under preventive detention at their house.
The move came in after TDP called for ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally alleging political violence by YSRCP.
“The ruling party is trying to strangulate our party across Andhra Pradesh. We were doing our activities in a democratic manner but our entire leadership was put under house arrest. This is the murder of democracy,” Nara Lokesh said.
Meanwhile, Section 144 imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala. Police say TDP has no permission for ‘chalo atmakur’.
Naidu began a fast at around 8 am on Wednesday and will continue till 8 pm. TDP leaders and workers who were trying to go to Naidu’s residence were stopped by police and taken into preventive custody.
