Meet P Chidambaram’s jail mates in Delhi’s Tihar jail

Date:

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, British businessman Christian Michel and corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar as the new neighbors at his new address – jail no. 7, ward no. 2 and cell no. 15 at Tihar prison.

Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram was lodged in the same jail last year after he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the INX Media case.

Yasin Malik was arrested in terror funding case by NIA, whereas Christian Michel is in judicial custody in connection with AgustaWestland scam case.

Deepak Talwar, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI in connection with the aviation scam, is lodged in jail number 7. However, sources say that it is very unlikely that they can have any interaction with each other.

A Delhi court on Thursday sent senior Congress leader P Chidambaram to custody in national capital’s Tihar jail in INX Media case, even as another court granted anticipatory bail to him in the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case.
