Back on November 5, 2013, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its first Mars mission popularly known as ‘Mangalyaan’.

It reached Mars orbit on September 24, 2014, and has been orbiting since. It was India’s first interplanetary mission, and with this, India’s ISRO became the fourth space agency to reach Mars after Roscosmos, NASA, and the European Space Agency.

The Mars Orbiter Mission probe blasted off from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota located in Andhra Pradesh.
