Zomato Gurgaon riders protest; violence and food delivery delays reported

Date:

Food delivery major, Zomato, seems to be in trouble.

Our ground team has reported that Zomato riders in Gurgaon, Haryana, are on a strike outside Building No. 10 exit, Cyber Hub. They are not letting fellow riders deliver their orders and reports of violence have also been informed. There are almost 50-60 riders in the protest and the entire area is quite chaotic.

One of the Zomato riders, who requested not to be named, got in touch with our reporter and said that he was stopped when out for delivery, beaten up by 2-4 people and asked to support them. The food order that he was carrying was also taken away from him. According to him, the reason behind this is a long standing issue that the delivery agents have with the company over payment mismatch.

He also told us that this isn’t the first time that such an incident has occurred. Zomato, hasn’t taken any action till now. The police were also not available on the location.
When contacted, Zomato refused to comment.
