AAP supports Centre’s decision scrapping Article 370

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday supported the central government over its decision to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution of India.

“We support the government on its decisions on J & K. We hope this will bring peace and development in the state,” Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader tweeted.

Apart from the AAP, BSP, BJD, and AIADMK supported the decision and spoke in favour of the bill.

Whereas former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti opposed the bill and vehemently said, “Today marks the darkest day in Indian democracy. Unilateral decision of GOI to scrap Article 370 is illegal & unconstitutional which will make India an occupational force in J&K.”

The Centre on Monday scrapped Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories with two Lieutenant Governors.

Ladakh will be a Union Territory without a legislature and Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislature. The series of decisions was tabled in Rajya Sabha amidst huge uproar from the opposition.
