Two men try to steal Jaguar, kidnap driver; Gurgaon Police foils plan

Date:

A big plan to steal a high-end vehicle and also to kidnap the driver, was foiled by the Gurgaon Police on Sunday.

Two men, who were driving a Toyota Innova, hit a Jaguar from behind. As the driver of the Jaguar got out to speak to them, the armed men in the Innova took hold of him and tried to drag him into their vehicle at gunpoint.

Fortunately, policemen, who were on duty, foiled the plan. According to the police, a team of eight police personnel were deployed at Atul Kataria Chowk to help ‘Kanwarias’ on the route, when they spotted a Toyota Innova car ramming into a Jaguar from behind.

As the driver of the Jaguar shouted for help, the police team ran to rescue him.
“The driver cried for help and the policemen rushed to his rescue. While, one of the two criminals fled from the spot, the other opened fire at the approaching policemen,” Gurgaon police spokesperson, Subhash Bokan said.

The police personnel retaliated and an officer was injured in the gunfight. He was taken to the hospital and he is said to be stable now.

However, the Crime Branch managed to arrest one of the accused, Anshul, a native of Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri. He is a former state-level wrestler and has told the police that he and his accomplice had planned to abduct the person driving the luxury car.
“The idea was to steal the car and also extort money from the driver’s family,” police said.
