On the fourth day of the 17th Lok Sabha, President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the joint sitting of Parliament.
In his address to the joint sitting of both houses of Parliament in the Central Hall, President Ram Nath Kovind said the government is moving ahead to create a strong, secure and inclusive India.
After the President’s speech, the upper house or the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day and will reconvene on Friday. Earlier on Wednesday (June 19), two-time MP from Rajasthan’s Kota Om Birla was unanimously elected Speaker of the lower house or the Lok Sabha.

2. President Kovind said the people have given a clear mandate to the government to continue the developmental journey that started in 2014.

3. In his 60-minute speech, the President also spoke about the ongoing water crisis in the country and stressed that there is a dire need for the country to work towards water conservation.

Apart from that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a dinner for all the members of the parliament on Thursday. This comes a day after he convened an all-party meeting wherein the heads of the political parties were presented to discuss the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’ among other things.
The Parliament’s Budget Session, which began on June 17, will continue till July 26. The first session of Lok Sabha will provide 30 sittings spread over 40 days in Lok Sabha and 27 sittings spread over 37 days sittings in the Rajya Sabha.
The Economic Survey will be presented on July 4 followed by the Union Budget for 2019-20 on July 5.
