Sitting Arunachal Pradesh MLA, 10 others killed in attack near Bogapani

National People’s Party MLA Tirong Aboh, from Arunachal Pradesh’s Khonsa West Assembly constituency, along with 10 others, including seven of his family members, were killed in an attack by insurgents near Bogapani.

The attack was reportedly carried out by Naga insurgent outfit National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN). However, the group has not yet taken the responsibility of the attack.

‘Extremely shocked’ by the killing of Aboh and his family members, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against the assailants.

“NPP is extremely shocked and saddened by the news of the death of its Arunachal MLA Tirong Aboh and his family. We condemn the brutal attack and urge HM Rajnath Singh and PM Modi to take action against those responsible for such attack,” Chief Minister, of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma tweeted.

“I’m shocked and saddened by the brutal attack and tragic killing of MLA Shri Tirong Aboh of Arunachal Pradesh, his family including 11 people. Strongest possible action will be taken against those responsible for such dastardly attack.” Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju tweeted.

The 41-year-old NPP leader hailed from Dadam village in Khonsa town of Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh. He completed his high school from Government Higher Secondery School, Khonsa. Before joining NPP, he was the Chief Organiser Congress Seva Dal in Tirap district from 2002 to 2006.
