Rahul bats for ‘new language’ in politics, not of hatred and violence

Date:

Pushing to adopt a new language in politics, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday stressed that using hatred and violence against each other is ‘bad’ for the country.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress president said, “I am pushing for a new language in politics. Let us fight each other brutally on issues. Let’s fight hard on ideology. But let’s not use hatred and violence against each other. It’s bad for (India).”

Rahul’s tweet assumes significance as political leaders have been launching stinging attacks on their opponents by making tasteless comments against them while electioneering in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had claimed that his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his family had used a naval warship as a ‘personal taxi’ for a vacation in Lakshadweep in the late 1980s. Prime Minister Modi had even called the late leader as “Bhrashtachari No. 1”.

Slamming PM Modi for making such comments against his father, Rahul said in a rally in New Delhi on May 6: “You speak bad things about me and I will still send you love. Say whatever you want to, but keep one thing in mind that I hugged you in the Parliament last year and that hug will now destroy you on May 23.”

After casting his vote in New Delhi during the sixth phase of elections on May 12, the Gandhi scion had said that Modi used ‘hate to garner votes, while the Congress spread love in the Lok Sabha battle and ‘love will win’.

Voting in six phases of the 17th Lok Sabha election has been completed while the last phase and the seventh phase of polling in 59 constituencies will be held on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
