SOTY 2: ‘The Jawaani Song’ is a fun rendition of RD Burman’s classic

After Kalank, Karan Johar’s upcoming production is ‘Student Of The Year 2’ featuring Tiger Shroff and debutants Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in lead roles. The makers dropped the trailer recently and now they have released the first track – ‘The Jawaani Song.’

The song is a fun young take on RD Burman and Kishore Kumar’s track ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani’ from the 1972 film ‘Jawani Diwani’ which was picturised on Randhir Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan.

Karan Johar, earlier put up a video on his social media to pique the curiosity of fans before the song was released. The recreated version is sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal Dev, with fresh lyrics penned by Anvita Dutt.

 ‘Student Of The Year 2’ is the sequel to the 2012 hit film ‘Student Of The Year’ which marked the Bollywood debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The film also had a rendition of Nazia Hassan’s popular retro song ‘Disco Deewane.’

The film is being helmed by filmmaker Punit Malhotra of ‘I Hate Luv Stories’ fame. ‘Student Of The Year 2’, has been shot mainly in Dehradun and will release on May 10, 2019.
