On Sunday, in a major reshuffle in the Maharashtrian police force, Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner (law and order) has been appointed as the new Joint Commissioner (Economic Offences Wing), Mumbai.
Whereas, Joint Commissioner (Economic Offences Wing) Vinay Chaube has been appointed as the new Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Mumbai.

The reshuffle comes after the Election Commission (EC) on Saturday night asked state chief secretary UPS Madan to shift joint commissioner of police (law and order) Deven Bharti with immediate effect.
Two months ago, EC had asked the state to shift all officers who had completed their tenure of three years. The home department then shifted several IPS officers. It was expected the government would also shift Deven Bharti and joint commissioner Vinay Chaube, who too had completed tenure.
