Modi slams Omar Abdullah over separate PM remark; humbled by PM Modi’s attention, replies Abdullah

Date:

Lashing out at National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday slammed Abdullah for seeking a provision for the post of a separate prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi, who was addressing a rally in Telangana, also asked other allies of the ‘mahagathbandan’ (grand alliance) – the Congress, the Trinamool Congress, NCP and TDP –  to clarify their stand on their ally’s demand.

Stepping up his attack on former chief minister of J&K, Modi said Abdullah and his National Conference want the “clock (of history) to be turned back” but it was not acceptable to the BJP.

“An ally of the Congress party, a very strong member of the ‘mahagathbandhan’, the National Conference has given a statement in which they have said that there should be a separate prime minister for Kashmir,” Modi said.

Modi was referring Abdullah’s remarks, made earlier in the day, that he would like to restore the posts of “President” and “Prime Minister” for the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While responding to PM Modi’s remarks on him, Abdullah wrote on Twitter, “I’m humbled by the attention PM Modi pays to my speeches & very grateful to the social media cell of the BJP for highlighting my speech today, especially by WhatsApp’ing it to journalists. Your reach is far greater than mine.”
