Congress promises will protect Maoists and jihadists: Jaitley on Cong manifesto

Date:

New Delhi: Hours after Congress released its manifesto for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls, finance minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday alleged that the manifesto is “dangerous and un-implementable, and an agenda for Balkanisation of India”.

In a BJP presser, Jaitley claimed that Congress promises will protect Maoists and jihadists, and allow terrorists and friends to prosecute the forces.

“In this manifesto, there are such agendas that do the work of breaking up the nation,” Jaitley said.

“If you see the 35th page of the manifesto, in point 30, there will be a review of rules, regulations. I knew in their budgets, the devil was always in the details. Till annexures are not read, they and their motives aren’t understood,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Congress presented its manifesto titled ‘Hum Nibhayenge’ or ‘Congress will Deliver’ in presence of party president Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other party leaders.

As per Rahul Gandhi, Congress’ key focus areas in the manifesto were: poverty alleviation under the NYAY scheme, generation of jobs, a reformed Goods and Services Tax, double budget for education and free healthcare.
