Date:

At the end, it was Australia to clinch the five-match ODI series against India after it crushed the hosts as India lost to Australia by 35-runs in the decider fifth ODI in Delhi on Wednesday.

The visitors set a target of 273-runs for India, and in return, India was short of 36-runs by the end of 50 overs.

Australian opener Usman Khawaja’s 100-run knock gave a good start to the visitors, and in the middle Handscomb supported the innings with a 52-run knock. By the end of 50-overs, Australia had put 272-runs on the board.

Chasing the target, regular fall of wickets led India to lose the match.

From Indian batting line up, Rohit Sharma gave a decent start with his 56 runs off 86-balls, but wickets continued to fall from the other end. Delhi boys Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan failed to impress with their batting on their home turf.

The middle order collapsed, but Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar tried to hold the innings but under the pressure, they both threw their back-to-back wickets at the individual score of 44 and 46 respectively.
