In a heart touching post, professor carries student’s baby in class

Date:

A heartwarming sight was shared on Friday on Twitter and Facebook in which a male professor Dr. Nathan Alexander was carrying a student’s baby so he can take better notes.

The post was shared by Nick Vaughn, a classmate of the baby’s father Wayne Hayer, who are students at Morehouse College, an all-male historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia.

Vaughn shared he came into class ready to start the new month off on a good note and was surprised to see Hayer walk in with his baby daughter Assata.

‘As one of my peers walked into the classroom with his child in arms, he quickly explained to my professor that he couldn’t find a babysitter and had nobody else that could watch her,’ he wrote in a Facebook post.

‘My professor Nathan said, ‘no problem, in fact I will even hold her so you can take better notes in class,’’ Vaughn wrote.

‘In fact not only did he teach the entire lecture with the child in his arms but also stayed after class helping those with questions about today’s lecture with the child still in his arms as seen in the pictures’, he quoted Alexander as saying on his viral Facebook post.

Alexander is the James King Jr. Visiting Professor of Mathematics Teaching at Morehouse, where he teaches mathematics education, statistical and mathematical modeling, and social networks and graphs.

When sharing this anecdote on Twitter and Facebook, Vaughn said that Alexander’s gesture was part of the supportive environment students get at the all-male, historically black university.

Since the tweet was posted it has received more than 79,000 retweets, with people around the world saying how inspiring this simple act of kindness way.
