CCS meeting convened; Union Min says we stand behind our forces

The cabinet committee on security met on Tuesday morning after reports of the Indian Air Force carried out pre-dawn airstrikes across the LoC. Though no official statement was made after the meeting, Union Minister for HRD Prakash Javdekar said ‘PM gave the Armed forces the freedom to attack. Indian Air Force has taken the necessary step for the security of the nation, entire country stands with forces.’

The air strikes reportedly destroyed major launch pads of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, which was behind the February 14 Pulwama terror attacks. The initial reports suggest that the air strikes decimated Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Alpha 3 Control Rooms located in Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Chakothi in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. More than 10 bombs were dropped by the multi-role fighter jet Mirage 2000 at around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning. The aerial attack comes day after Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a high-level meeting with all three service chiefs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is chairing a high-level CCS meeting in New Delhi to deliberate upon the Pulwama terror attack that killed at least 40 CRPF jawans on Thursday.
