Tired of 100+ WhatsApp groups? Now choose to be added

Date:

Whatsapp is developing a group invitation feature that will allow users to screen people who can add them to groups.

As of now, people can be added to WhatsApp groups without their permission. This feature will help users to add another layer to their privacy settings.

The feature was initially introduced to WhatsApp Business and now the Facebook-owned app will bring it to WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, there would be three different options in the privacy settings:

Nobody: The user will always receive an invitation when someone wants to add them to a group. The user cannot be automatically added to a group.

My contacts: The user can be added to a group by people from his contacts. The user will receive an invitation to join a group if the person is not his contact list.

Everyone: The user can be added to a group without permission.

The invite can be accepted within 72 hours, after which it expires. The user will have to wait for a new invitation to join the group once the invite is expired. The feature will allow only one invite from a particular group at the same time.

The feature is not available now for development reasons, and it will be enabled in future for both Android and iOS users.
