Bahrain to have the world’s largest underwater theme park

Date:

The world’s largest underwater theme park is set to open in Bahrain by this summer by sinking a Boeing 747 and turning it into a theme park.

The park would be sprawling across 25-acres and will also be the largest eco-friendly underwater park. With an aim to increase tourism in the country, this plan seems to be a major boosting factor for tourists.

While on one hand, some environmentalists fear that the plane could be harmful for the ecosystem due to the metal that would pass through the water, however, the authorities creating the theme park have negated all the fears and ensured that the plane will not hamper the environment in any way.

An official from the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Agency told a leading travel news portal, “all aircraft surfaces will be subjected to a high-pressure wash with bio-friendly detergents to ensure all post-production coatings, oil and grime are removed.”

Apart from the plane, the site will also host a model of the house of the traditional Bahraini pearl merchant, artificial coral reefs, and sculptures which are made from eco-friendly materials and products. This could also be a great attraction for divers and marine life researchers for their studies.
