Pakistan should not lecture others on minorities: Mohammad Kaif to Pak PM

Date:

Responding to Pak PM Imran Khan’s verbal attack on India, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif on Tuesday said that Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities.

Commenting on Naseeruddin Shah’s statement on mob lynching cases, Imran Khan had said, “We will show the Modi government how to treat minorities…Even in India, people are saying that minorities are not being treated as equal citizens”

In a befitting response to Khan’s earlier statement, Kaif said, ” There were around 20% minorities at the time of Partition in Pakistan, less than 2% remain now. On the other hand minority population has grown significantly in India since Independence. Pakistan is the last country that should be lecturing any country on how to treat minorities.”

Just hours after Kaif’s tweet, Khan asserted that Muhammad Ali Jinnah always envisaged Pakistan as a democratic, just and compassionate nation.

Indian politico Asaduddin Owaisi also criticised Khan for his attack on India. Taking it Twitter, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president said, “According to the Pakistani Constitution, only a Muslim is qualified to be President. India has seen multiple Presidents from oppressed communities. It’s high time Khan sahab learns something from us about inclusive politics & minority rights.”
