Kane and Eriksen inspire Spurs to a late win over Burnley

Date:

Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen starred in Tottenham Hotspur’s late 1-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs were third in the table behind Liverpool and Manchester City before they kicked off at Wembley. The start was slow and Spurs couldn’t create much as Burnley kept the backdoor shut.

After the first half ended goalless, Spurs brought on Eriksen and Son Heung Min at different points in the second half to use them as game changing substitutes as Burnley refused to back down.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men kept piling on the pressure and kept creating and missing chances to take the lead. Fernando Llorente came on in the last ten minutes as Spurs threw their final roll of the dice.

And the pressure paid off in the second minute of stoppage time. After Spurs broke, Kane set up Eriksen, who fired the ball into the claret net to break the Clarets’ hearts.

The win cemented their third spot in the table, with Liverpool playing Manchester United tomorrow in a bid to overtake them.

This was the English captain’s third assist and he has scored nine goals so far this season in the Premier League.
