Engineering student appeals for final attempt to clear 17 compartments in 9 years

Date:

A B Tech student of National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra has been trying for an engineering degree for the last nine years. After the 17th failed attempt, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has denied the mercy petition by him to give him the last chance.

The student received seventeen compartments and confessed before the court of the chief justice that he had joined the college in 2009 and for consecutive four years, he secured multiple compartments inspite of being given an extension to re-appear and clear the examinations.

However, he has requested the court to give him one last chance to clear the examinations and get the degree. The court has denied the petition and said that there is no sympathy for people like him who are not serious about their lives and waste the nation’s resources.

The court further added that the cost incurred by the government was more than his course fees that he paid. On pleading for mercy in court, he was asked by the judge to take pity on the court and the nation and not waste anymore time.

The court stated, “When you could not pass an engineering degree in nine years how can you clear 17 compartments in one attempt. It is better to choose some other career, but not engineering.”
