Anna Univ cancels affiliation with Chendhuran College of Engg

Anna University, Chennai has cancelled the affiliation of Chendhuran College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai, owing to malpractices in examinations.

The university caught the indulging in mass impersonation during the semester exams that took place from 1st November 2018, as per reports. Following this the Controller of Examinations recommended the cancellation of its affiliation with the institution.

The college allegedly allowed a another person or proxy to sit in place of a student for the semester exams. The college owner’s son had used a proxy to write his exams leading to the decision by the university, according to media reports.

However, this case isn’t the first time that Anna University has found colleges involved in exam malpractices. A few colleges had reportedly allowed students to copy from textbooks, answer sheets and using slips of paper. About 1, 400 students have been caught for malpractices in university semester exams till now, following which the university has made it mandatory for colleges to have external faculty for invigilation for now.
