Shares surge over 1.5%; Sensex ends at 35,011.65, Nifty at 10,553

The benchmark indices surged over 1.5% with the Sensex ending 579.68 points, up at 35,011.65, while the Nifty 50 ended 172.55 points higher at 10,553.

For the week, the Sensex rose 1,662.34 points. or 5%, and the Nifty 50 added 523 points, or 5%.

The rupee strengthened against the US dollar after crude oil prices declined.

In global markets, stocks extended gains after Bloomberg reported that US President Donald Trump is interested in reaching an agreement on trade with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in Argentina this month.
