Hurricane Michael hits Florida; 370,000 people expected to evacuate

Hurricane Michael slammed into Florida, US on Wednesday. According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm touched land near Mexico Beach, Florida. The catastrophic winds of 150 mph has hit the coast of Florida.

At least 13 people died in Central America over the weekend as a result of storm rains and floods, according to the reports. Michael is expected to move quickly up the US East Coast. It has also been the largest storm to hit the region in 100 years.

More than 370,000 people in Florida have been ordered to evacuate and move to higher ground, but officials estimate that some people have actually left the houses.

Scientists say global warming is responsible for more intense and more frequent extreme weather, such as storms, droughts, floods and fires.
