Jacqueline joins fight against animal testing, speaks up at UN

Date:

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez visited the United Nations (UN) headquarters on World Animal Day with a petition against animal testing containing 8 million signatures.

The initiative is part of the ‘Forever Against Animal Testing’ campaign run by The Body Shop India. The Race 3 actress attended the special event at UN headquarters and also addressed the audience.

The Body Shop India took to its Twitter and wrote, “The Body Shop along with @Asli_Jacqueline was at the United Nations Headquarters with your 8.3 MILLION signatures to pledge for an international agreement to end animal testing in cosmetics globally. #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting.”

Jacqueline, who is an avid animal lover, believes that there is no beauty in harming anyone, especially animals. Apart from animal welfare, she actively supports marine conservation and also contributes to creating awareness on the same.

According to figures by People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), each year, more than 100 million animals-including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, and curiosity-driven experimentation.
