Indian automaker Vazirani Automotive company officially unveiled the Vazirani Shul, in Mumbai on 26th September, 2018. It is India’s first electric hypercar concept.
It was internationally unveiled in UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in July 2018.

As the company states, their mission is to make an electric car so sleek and engaging that they can transition even the most stubborn petrol heads to a cleaner future. It is inspired by Hindu God Shiva and the company says various elements like the lighting and body sculpting follow this theme.
“I wanted to make the model more emotional than regular electric vehicles because I myself am a true petrolhead”, Chunky Vazirani, chief designer and co- founder, told Autocar UK.
The Shul has been developed with inputs from the Force India Formula 1 team and has tyres from Michelin. The company claim that the Shul focuses on a more engaging driving experience, rather than outright acceleration and speed. Vazirani said that his company was “not interested in fighting for 0-100kph times”. He said that the car has been developed to “focus on handling”, with sportscar-like responses and strong brakes supplied by Brembo.

The car makes extensive use of carbon-fibre in its body to keep weight down, while the exterior has been shaped to minimise drag. The car sits on a carbon-fibre chassis with a 300 kg battery pack on the floor behind the driver. The subtle rear diffuser is noticeable, made possible by the car’s EV packaging. Vazirani said the car’s turbine meant that it could use relatively small batteries, also helping to trim weight.
Shul’s powertrain is something that peaks the interest. It uses a microturbine to charge the batteries. This feeds power to four electric motors- one on each wheel and enables it to mix rapid, torque-heavy performance without compromising on range. Vazirani said that his firm has worked with a company in the UK on the development of a turbine that allows drivers to use regular petrol so they can rely on existing infrastructure.
The Shul is still a concept and will be testing components next year. It will roll out its first cars in 2021 and the car will be available globally, with India being one of the first markets to receive it.
