Unique Ferrari concept car makes debut on public roads

Date:

Almost 50 years after it was first showcased at the Annual Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari 512s Modulo finally made its debut on public roads. The car was spotted in California, cruising down Pebble Beach.

Jim Glickenhaus, Ferrari fanatic purchased the car from Pininfarina, the car design firm which helped design the customized Ferrari automobile. It took several years for his race car company to make alterations to the car in order to make it driveable. The car is now retrofitted with a 512S motor and a V12 engine and can now be safely driven on roads, something that was not possible earlier.

Glickenhaus captured the futuristic car’s first drive, dubbing it the Mona Lisa of sports cars.

Glickenhaus is now preparing to showcase his car at the Monterey Car Week, in California, on August 26.

The one of a kind car has a 5 speed manual transmission, with a single door, and a cockpit style roof door which lifts up to provide access into the car. It is a very small car, with a total height of only 36.8 inches. The car can reach speeds 350 kmph, and goes from 0 to 97 kmph in just 3.1 seconds.
