Delhi on high alert; security beefed up in Gurugram ahead of I-Day

Date:

Delhi is on high alert after the intelligence officials and Delhi Police issued a warning of the highest category. It was suspected that a terrorist was posing as an Indian Airforce Officer in Connaught Place. The hunt is on to find him as he was last traced near the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station on Sunday evening.

With Independence Day approaching on Wednesday, security measures have been ensured and 800 police officials have been deployed across Gurugram. Strict checking of vehicles has begun at the borders between Delhi, Rajasthan, and other areas of Haryana.

In many parts of the city, quick response teams have been deployed, in the case of an emergency. They will be actively present in the densely populated areas and villages. They have also increased night patrolling and surveillance.

100 specially trained commandos have been appointed at the entry and exit points on all borders between Delhi and Rajasthan.

Additionally, security teams have been appointed across various locations in the city that include metro stations, rapid metro stations, bus stands, and railway stations.

There are three layers of security arrangements at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium where the rehearsals for the parade are being held. The officials have also been ordered to check any heavy vehicles carrying daily goods such as vegetables, fruits, milk, etc.

All metro stations have been checked for the CCTV cameras and all passengers will go through strict frisking of baggage.
