One security official killed, 3 injured in encounter with terrorists in J&K

A Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel was killed while three security officials were injured in an encounter with terrorists near Batamaloo area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar on Sunday.

‘On a specific information about presence of terrorists in a hideout, an operation was launched in Batmaloo Srinagar leading to exchange of fire, one SOG boy martyred, one JKP & 2 CRPF Jawans sustained injuries, operation continues,’ Director General of Police (DGP) S.P. Vaid tweeted.

A cordon and search operation was launched in Batamaloo area of the city on Sunday morning following a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area.

Wreath laying ceremony was conducted for Constable Parvez Ahmed who lost his life in the encounter.


Meanwhile, the internet services have been suspended in the city as a precautionary measure.
