“What is the hurry to come to power?” PM returns hug with rhetoric

Date:

After the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, embraced the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha post spewing venom at his government, the latter left no stones unturned to unleash his wrath on Congress in general and Rahul in particular.

“What is the hurry to come to power,” he asked. “In the morning, the voting was not over, the debate was also not over. One member comes running to me saying- Utho Utho Utho..What is his hurry to come to power? Let me tell this member it is the people who elected us. That is how we have come here.”

Answering to the No Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha, he said, “I was surprised at Rahul Gandhi’s excitement to come and hug me. What is the hurry? You should trust the people in a democracy. Some people are in a rush to get to the Treasury benches.”

Earlier in the day, Gandhi after ending his speech moved across the floor to get to the Treasury benches to the PM. They hugged each other, and as Gandhi was returning to his seat, Prime Minister Modi was seen calling him back and they exchanged pleasantries. The gestures seemed to ease the tempers.

However, the PM further poked fun at Gandhi during his speech over his winking act and said, “Talking about eyes, we have seen quite a lot of eye movement today.” This was in return of Rahul Gandhi asking the PM to look him in the eye when he is being accused. Soon after hugging the PM and returning to his seat, Rahul Gandhi was seen winking at his colleagues in the Opposition benches.
