Six-storey under-construction building collapses in Greater Noida; three dead

One more body was recovered from the debris, raising the death toll to three people and many feared trapped as a six- storey under construction building fell on top of a four-storey in Greater Noida near Delhi on Tuesday. A rescue operation is underway by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). According to the reports, there were 18 families living in the four-storey building in the Shah Beri village.

Soon after the mishap, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and asked the District Magistrate to follow up with the National Disaster Response Force team and Police for relief measures and to ensure immediate rescue.

Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, who reached the spot, said that 12 ambulances have been rushed to facilitate the operation.

He said, “Our priority right now is to save any life that is left. 12 ambulances are present here and all the hospitals nearby have been alerted. NDRF teams and dog squads are also present on the spot.”


Meanwhile, Kumar Vineet, additional district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, said, “As of now, we don’t know what happened. It is too early to say anything in this regard. Our motive right now is to save any life that is left. Rescue operations by NDRF are underway.”


Currently, there are two NDRF teams present at the scene and more details are awaited.
