The Delhi Police have filed a case of dowry death in connection with the death case of air hostess Anissia Batra. The incident happened on July 13 in South Delhi’s Hauz Khas area when Anissia Batra, allegedly committed suicide after jumping off the terrace of their home. The girl was working with Lufthansa airlines and her family allege some foul play and allege that her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry.

Addressing a press conference in connection with the case, Romil Baniya, DCP South, said that she had an argument with her husband Mayank Singhvi, following which she “committed suicide”.
The DCP also said that it is a case of dowry and that the deceased’s family has demanded videography of her postmortem. “The family has requested for the constitution of a doctors’ team, again, for the second autopsy. We will initiate the further investigation, whenever the report of the second autopsy will come,” said Romil Baniya.
The DCP also claimed that “Anissia texted her husband before committing suicide”, adding, “the husband rushed to the terrace after receiving the message but she had jumped off the terrace by then.” “We are investigating who all were present at the suicide spot,” he added.
The police have also informed that they have recovered “mobile phones, BMW car and diamond ring, which belonged to the deceased.” Meanwhile, Anissia’s family is blaming her husband for her death, saying, “She was constantly pressurised and was pushed to take this step.”
Anissia’s father had earlier filed a complaint, alleging that her husband and in-laws assaulted her. He also claimed that he has “evidence against the husband”. Anissia’s brother has also levelled the cover-up charge saying the husband “may have tampered with the evidence”.
“There was a delay in filing the FIR and the autopsy wasn’t video graphed despite the order. Even after the FIR was lodged, no arrest was made,” he claimed.
The deceased, Anissia Batra, an air hostess with German airlines had allegedly jumped off the second floor of her house on July 13. She was rushed to Max hospital by her husband Mayank Singhvi where she was declared brought dead. The family of the air hostess has been alleging that she was being harassed.

Anissia’s husband, Mayank Singhvi, her mother-in-law, Sushma Singhvi and her father-in-law Rajinder Singhvi are the accused in the case.
