Inter-caste marriages in India get full support by the millennials

Date:

There is a constant change in the thought-processes of the millenials these days and their attitudes towards commitments and gender stereotypes. The current and most prominent change seen is that eight out of every ten of them support inter-caste marriages in India.

Majority of the males no longer feel that it is mandatory for the females to change their maiden names. In terms of females, a majority of them have no objection in marrying men earning less or more than them. The couples these days are also ready to share the wedding expenses equally rather than burdening one of them. So, according to them, it is unfair for only the girl’s family to bear the entire cost of the wedding.

In contrast to the males earlier, the millenials many males are open about their wives earning more than them. Besides, it is not important for only the girls to be home-makers any more and no longer do the millenial couples succumb to any societal pressures of caste or culture.

Among the entire millenial population, 50 per cent of the progressive ones hail from two-tier and three-tier cities.
