Mumbai Rains: MeT issues warning, BMC cancels employees leave

Meteorological Department (MeT) issued a notice for extremely heavy rainfall in Maharashtra and other places like Goa from June 7th to June 12, 2018, it also likely to hit the coastal areas of Karnataka and Kerela from June 9 to June 11, 2018. There is likely rise in water levels in Tapi and Tadri, the Godavari and its tributaries near the west coast, Krishna and its tributaries near the west coast, Cauvery and its tributaries near the west coast as well as in West flowing rivers between Tadri and Kanyakumari.

Also, rivers flowing in the Arabian Sea may witness flash floods. Till Wednesday, the city had witnessed two bouts of pre-monsoon showers, both of which affected flight operations and caused water-logging in parts of the island city as well as the suburbs.

The city recorded no rainfall on Tuesday, but the weather bureau has issued a forecast for rain or thundershowers over north Konkan, including Mumbai, on Wednesday and Thursday. Bombay Municipal Corporation also cancels Saturday and Sunday offs of its officers after heavy rain warnings.
