School bus attacked by stone pelters in south Kashmir; one student critically injured

Shopian: In a shocking incident, a school bus travelling from Kellar village to Shopian in Jammu-Kashmir was targeted by stone pelters. The bus carrying at least 50 children came under heavy pelting when it was passing by the Kanipora area. Three school children have been injured in the incident. One of them is in a critical condition and has been referred to Srinagar’s SMHS Hospital.

The child who is in a critical condition is a student of class 2.

Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has reacted on this incident and has promised that “perpetrators of this senseless & cowardly act will be brought to justice.”

Earlier on Monday, Sameer Tiger was neutralised by armed forces after a cordon and search operation was launched early morning by the 44 Rashtriya Rifles, 182 and 183 Battalion of the of the CRPF and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir police in Drubgam, Rajpora, Pulwama.

This was launched after the 44 RR received a specific intelligence input about the presence of Tiger, a chronic stone pelter turned terrorist. It was at about 1000 hours, when the terrorist sensed that the security forces are closing in, opened fire. The security forces retaliated and were able to quickly encircle the location where the terrorists were trapped and firing on.
