Siberian tiger treated with stem cells in Hungary

Date:

Igor, a Siberian tiger of the zoo of Hungary underwent a stem cell treatment for joint pain relief which according to the doctors would heal its hip and make him live a happier, healthier life. This would make him reduce the usage of pain-killers.

The tiger is 13-years old and lives in the Southern part of the Hungarian zoo in a town named Szeged. For many years, the tiger has been suffering from server hip joint pain.

Though the stem cell is more commonly used for humans, this therapy was attempted on Igor in which joints are treated with human tissues that contain regenerative stem cells.

The treatment benefits the quality of life of the patients and just as human patients, Igor would also hopefully heal, although it can take two to three days to heal effectively.
