Government extends deadline for Aadhaar-welfare schemes linking till June 30

Date:

The Government of India on Wednesday extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar with welfare schemes to June 30, in accordance with a supreme court ruling.

The notification extending the deadline was issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had upheld the March 31 deadline for welfare schemes.

Earlier on March 27, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended its deadline for linking Aadhaar with Permanent Account Number (PAN) to June 30.

The Supreme Court, in a ruling last month, had said that the deadline to mandatorily link Aadhaar with various services such as mobile phone, banking and insurance and products would stand extended indefinitely till judgement on the petitions pending before it is pronounced.
