Boult’s fifer bundles out Pak for 74, NZ clinch series with 183-run win

Date:

Rumman Raees starred for Pakistan as they avoided the lowest ever ODI total to fold out for 74 runs in reply to New Zealand’s 257 in the third ODI at University Oval in Dunedin, thus losing the match by 183 runs.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand rode on Kane Williamson’s 73 and Ross Taylor’s 52 to post 257/10 in their 50 overs. Martin Guptill scored 45 runs. Hasan Ali and Raees picked up 3 wickets each.

Kiwis didn’t have a good start as they lost opener Colin Munro when the scoreboard read just 15. However, Williamson and Guptill added 69 runs for the second wicket before Kane added another 74 runs with Ross Taylor. But once Taylor departed, the batting collapse.

In reply, Trent Boult fired a scintillating spell as Pakistan were reduced to 16-6. A 14-run stand took them to 30 but they were back to 32/8. Had it not been for a 20-run stand between Mohammad Amir and Sarfraz Ahmed they would have broken the record for lowest score, i.e-34.

Colin Munro and Lockie Ferguson picked up a couple of wickets each. The defeat meant that Pakistan conceded an unassailable lead of 3-0.
