Amid rising cases of mob lynching and communal violence in Jharkhand, Jharkhand’s CM Raghubar Das, and the state government has appointed three Inspector Generals for vigilance to curb down such incidents in the state.

State governments’ spokesperson said “IGs Murari Lal Meena and Navin Kumar Singh will not be in-charge of North and South Chhotanagpur zones respectively. IG Suman Gupta will look after the Dumka zone”.
The decision to appoint zonal IG’s came after recent communal violence near the capital city in Sukruhutu and Bargai. There were also several mob lynchings in the state related to child thieves in recent months.
Following these cases, police superintendent and deputy commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan district were suspended along with 5 junior officers were suspended on Friday.

The zonal IG’s are expected to act as a co-ordinaters between the government and the police agencies during the time of emergencies. The three new officers will also have the power to suspend, transfer and take actions against junior officers, according to the reports
